Lee Hsien Yang says he’s not returning to S’pore for Lee Wei Ling's wake & funeral
Her wake will be held at the Singapore Casket from Oct. 10 to 12.
Lee Hsien Yang will not be returning to Singapore to attend Lee Wei Ling's wake and funeral.
Instead, he would be "organising the funeral remotely" in accordance with her wishes, and his second son, Li Huanwu, would be assisting him from Singapore.
Lee Hsien Yang shared his plan in a statement to CNA on Oct. 9 (Singapore time).
In a written parliamentary answer published in March 2023, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean said Lee Hsien Yang and his wife, Lee Suet Fern, left Singapore and remained out of the country.
According to Teo, the couple did so while they were under police investigation for potential offences of giving false evidence in judicial proceedings over first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew's will.

Lee Wei Ling previously revealed in 2020 that she was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy, which symptoms included difficulty in swallowing, choking aspiration, and pneumonia.
Since the announcement of her passing, many in Singapore have paid tribute to Lee Wei Ling, including Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is also Lee Wei Ling and Lee Hsien Yang's elder brother.
In a follow-up Facebook post, Lee Hsien Yang shared that Lee Wei Ling's wake will be held at the Pearl and Sapphire Hall of the Singapore Casket from Oct. 10 (Thursday) to Oct. 12 (Saturday).
