Changi Prison inmates crochet outfits for Labubu, on sale to public for S$15 each
Labubu but make it fashion.
After learning to crochet as part of the the Art Behind Bars programme at Changi Prison Complex Institution A4, four women inmates have channelled their creative energies into making outfits for the popular Labubu doll toys.
According to Singapore Prison Services, Art Behind Bars is one of many rehabilitation programmes for women inmates where those serving time learn arts and crafts from volunteer mentors.
Since early October, these inmates have set aside six hours a day to craft the Labubu outfits.
Each outfit took two to three days to make, as it needed to be customised to fit Labubu's round shape and short limbs.
The crocheted outfits will be on sale to the public at Just BrewIN cafe from mid-November and are priced at S$15 each.
All proceeds will go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund.
