A 25-year-old man, whose body was found floating in the waters of Jurong Lake Gardens in the morning of Oct. 5, had only gotten married recently.

Malaysian Cai Shi Yuan (transliterated) was married on Sep. 16, his wife reportedly posted on Facebook.

He had moved from Johor to Singapore for work, Shin Min Daily News and 8world reported.

Married last month

On Sep. 9, Cai's wife shared on Facebook a photo of the couple dressed in wedding attire, in anticipation of their wedding day.

They got married on Sep. 16.

"Today I married the boy who said he wanted to marry me at first sight," she said.

“Thank you for being with me for these five years, you are the light in my world from beginning to end,” she added.

On Sep. 23, she shared more photos of the wedding, and wrote that they were "lucky to spend the rest of their lives together".

She set a family photo taken at their wedding as the cover photo of her Facebook account on Oct. 3, two days before her husband's passing, 8world reported.

Following Cai's passing, his wife purportedly posted his obituary on Facebook, but has since taken it down.

The post garnered more than 280 comments.

She also poured her feelings onto social media:

"The last time you called me was at 5:52am, I was so sleepy that I didn't hear your last words to me. What did you want to tell me, husband?"

Body found at Jurong Lake Gardens

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that they received a call for water rescue assistance at 6 Jurong Lake Link at about 8:35am on Oct. 5.

Upon arrival, SCDF rescuers retrieved a body that was floating in the water.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

A Xiaohongshu user shared in a post that she had brought her child to cycle at Jurong Lake Gardens when she saw police cordon off the area.

Police said in response to Mothership's queries that they do not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations.
