Iswaran surrenders himself at State Courts to serve 12-month jail sentence
The former minister said earlier on Oct. 7 that he would not appeal against the sentence.
Former transport minister S Iswaran surrendered himself at the State Courts today (Oct. 7) to commence his 12-month prison sentence.
This follows his sentencing last week, after he pleaded guilty to five criminal charges.
Arrived at around 3:30pm
Iswaran arrived at the State Courts in a white MPV.
He told members of the media to watch their steps as he proceeded from the drop-off point into the State Courts building.
Iswaran had said earlier on Oct. 7, via Facebook, that he would not appeal against the sentence.
He said he accepted what he did while he was a minister was wrong under section 165, adding:
"I accept full responsibility for my actions and apologise unreservedly to all Singaporeans."
