The Hunter’s Moon appeared in the sky on Oct. 17, providing a visual treat for many in Singapore.
Out of the four supermoons in 2024, the Hunter's moon is the third and is very likely the brightest, as it is the closest to Earth.
It rose around 6:45pm on Oct. 17.
By 8pm, it was visible in the sky as seen from Singapore.
Photo opportunity
Those who took photos of the Hunter's Moon did so from the Central Business District, Marina Bay area, and even Geylang.
Many of these photos were shared to the Cloudspotting & Skyspotting Singapore Facebook group, while others were put up on personal social media accounts.
The Hunter’s Moon is the third supermoon of 2024 and the closest to Earth, according to the Science Centre Observatory.
It is named as such as it appeared around the time that hunters in the past were most actively hunting animals to prepare for winter.
The Beaver Moon, the final supermoon of 2024, will appear on Nov. 15.
