Hotel Fort Canning Singapore will be rebranded as Mett Singapore, after Dubai-based Sunset Hospitality Group takes over its lease.

The rebranding is expected to happen by the third quarter of 2025, Sunset Hospitality said in a statement on Oct. 16, according to The Business Times (BT).

This takeover is part of Sunset Hospitality's global expansion strategy.

Rebranding

The hotel will “undergo a full transformation” under the group's Mett Hotels & Resorts arm and "provide guests with a selection of venues, ranging from restaurants to nightlife", BT reported.

Sunset Hospitality is leasing the hotel from Legends Fort Canning, which is linked to Eng Wah Global and other shareholders.

Eng Wah Global operates in entertainment, property, hospitality, and lifestyle sectors in Singapore and Malaysia, with brands like WE Cinemas, 321 Clementi and The Legends Golf and Country Resort.

The transaction also includes the hotel's food and beverage units, and was reportedly facilitated by real estate firm JLL.

Potential in Singapore

Antonio Gonzalez, chairman and group chief executive of Sunset Hospitality, reportedly said the group sees “immense potential” in Singapore and South Asia.

The latest deal follows Sunset Hospitality’s acquisition of Maximal Concepts (a global F&B group headquartered in Hong Kong) just some two months ago.

It also comes after the opening of Sushisamba Singapore, a restaurant offering a fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisines, operated by Sunset Hospitality.
