Graduating students may extend concession card validity for 4 months from Oct. 1, 2024
At any ticketing machines or counters.
From Oct. 1, 2024, graduating students can extend the validity of their concession cards for four months after their studies.
This includes secondary school, junior college (JC), polytechnic and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) students.
The Public Transport Council (PTC) announced the extension on Sep. 9, adding that it will benefit about 75,000 students every year.
Graduating students can continue paying concessionary fares on public buses and trains even after graduation.
Who's eligible?
The four-month extension is granted to students whose concession eligibility ends on or after Dec. 28, 2024.
This would impact students between two education stages and those transitioning from student concession benefits.
Where to extend?
Those eligible will need to tap their existing concessionary card at any ticketing machine located at MRT stations and bus interchanges from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.
You can also go to a ticketing counter for the staff to assist you.
Students whose concession cards are not extended by Dec. 31 can still do so after that, but will not be entitled to refunds if you have paid adult fares previously.
The extended period will still begin from the end of your studies.
For those who are graduating in 2025 or later, you will be informed by your schools to extend your concession validity towards the end of your final year of study.
PTC also previously announced a fare hike of four cents per journey for concessionary bus and MRT fares for students and other groups starting from Dec. 28.
