After accidentally leaving her wallet behind in a rental GetGo car on Oct. 12 night, a Singapore woman discovered it had been emptied out of its various cards when she went back to retrieve it.
Sharing her experience to the Complaint Singapore Facebook Group, the customer wrote that she only realised that she left her wallet in the car on Oct. 13 night as she did not need it the past day.
She did find her wallet in the car, but that was all that was left.
Went back for it
She stated when she went back for her wallet, she found that it was empty and all her cards were missing.
This included her NRIC and credit cards.
She added that GetGo was not able to assist her.
Despite being told there was only one booking after hers, the company apparently could not contact the person.
She was also told by GetGo that "its beyond their responsibility".
She said she had reported all her lost cards and blocked them.
Numerous commenters urged her to make a police report.
Aware of the incident
In response to Mothership's queries, GetGo stated that they are aware of the incident.
In this case, the user who left her wallet behind had asked GetGo to share the contact details of the person who used the car after her.
However, they "had to inform them that we were unable to share any of our customers' details directly with another user due to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)".
"We promptly informed the user that they needed to file a police report. We also tried reaching out to the vehicle's next user to see if they had seen the items, and we're still investigating the incident internally," GetGo added.
GetGo explained that when personal items are left behind in one of their vehicles, users are encouraged to contact the company immediately so that they can check whether the items have been reported as lost and found.
If the items have not been reported to GetGo, users must file a police report.
In the meantime, GetGo will also try contacting subsequent vehicle users internally to see if they know anything about the missing items.
Once the police investigation commences, GetGo will receive an official order for information, allowing them to share the necessary information with the police, the company said.
"We remain ready to support the user and assist with any further investigation with the police," said GetGo.
"We regret the frustration that the user must be experiencing and we want to assure all of our users that GetGo will do everything in our capacity to support them within our permitted legal boundaries."
