Former Yes 933 DJ Lim Peifen makes 1st appearance as Channel 8 newscaster
Lim began her DJ career at 18 after winning a radio DJ contest hosted by YES 933 in 2000.
Former Yes 933 DJ Lim Peifen made her debut as a newscaster on Mediacorp's Channel 8 afternoon news on Oct. 9.
This follows Lim's announcement in August that she was leaving her two-decade-long career at the radio station.
She later updated fans about her new experience in an Instagram post.
Scary but smooth experience
Lim described her first time presenting the news as "scary" but noted that it went "smoothly".
She expressed gratitude to her colleagues and mentors for their guidance, sharing a photo with two of them, including veteran newscaster Ng Siew Leng.
Fans offered words of encouragement in the comments, with one noting that Lim was "very inspiring."
"My mum was so happy to see you on TV! She loves your voice!" another person wrote.
Departure from radio
Lim began her DJ career at 18 after winning a radio DJ contest hosted by YES 933 in 2000.
In an interview with 8world on Aug. 26, Lim mentioned that she would be joining the Chinese news and current affairs team at Mediacorp, though she did not elaborate on her new role.
She stated that she was still undergoing training and becoming familiar with the new environment.
While she felt pressured and "a little scared" about her transition into a new field of journalism, she described these emotions as driving forces for her.
On Sep. 2, she shared a selfie on Instagram, marking her first day of work and her first experience editing the news.
Subsequently, she also shared clips of herself presenting short news segments.
