Fire breaks out at Punggol HDB block, likely due to unattended cooking

A fire broke out at Block 126D Edgedale Plains in Punggol, on the afternoon of Oct. 18, 2024.
A video of the incident was posted on TikTok the same day.
Responders from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) could also be seen at the scene alongside a fire engine, while curious passers-by looked up at the smoking unit.

In response to Mothership's queries, SCDF confirmed that it was alerted to the fire at about 5:10pm.
The fire involved contents of a kitchen in a unit on the fourteenth floor, and was likely caused by unattended cooking.
Two persons were assessed by a paramedic but declined to be sent to the hospital.
It was subsequently extinguished by the SCDF via a water jet.
