Lucky Plaza fire: 20 evacuated, 2 sent to hospital
The fire reportedly involved contents of a charcoal stove in a sixth-floor unit.
Twenty people were evacuated, and two were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out on the sixth floor of Lucky Plaza on Oct. 20.
Responding to Mothership, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the fire at about 9:45am.
The fire involved the contents of a charcoal stove in a sixth-floor unit.
In a video posted on Facebook, several SCDF officers can be seen next to an ambulance.
A crowd milled around the entrance to Lucky Plaza, and people were seen entering and exiting the building.
Members of the public had extinguished the fire using buckets of water before the SCDF arrived.
Two people were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A clothing store employee told Lianhe Zaobao he saw white smoke from a restaurant, but the smoke was not thick.
“We initially continued our business until an officer came to the door to conduct an evacuation,” he said.
