Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore was eating popiah at Maxwell Food Centre in town.

And she appeared to really enjoy Singaporean cuisine.

So much so that the 49-year-old uploaded a video of herself tucking into a hearty meal at the hawker centre on Oct. 1, just in front of the Ren Min drinks stalls.

Her speech in the video was muted but the caption read: "Eat & yap".

She had a plate of kangkong and rice on a tray in front of her.

Came to Singapore in August

It is unclear when exactly the video was taken.

However, according to Australian media Travel Weekly, Barrymore had joined a food tour with a local company, Everyday Tour Company, and was in Singapore.

According to the tour company's founder, Yeo Pei Shyuan, Barrymore and her family had signed up for the tour sometime in August 2024.

Apart from the food, they also explored other sights, such as Haji Lane and Little India, over the span of a few days.

Yeo was quoted as saying:

"Some of her favorite activities include shopping for vintage and bohemian chic at Haji Lane and having her first henna tattoo in Little India. Given her down-to-earth attitude and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, the food tour at a local hawker market was also another highlight for her."

Barrymore was the child actress in the 1982 classic, "ET".

She was also in "Charlie's Angels".

Her talk show, started in 2020, has won three Daytime Emmy Awards.
