M'sia boy, 7, dies after being struck by concrete that fell off 3-storey building in Melaka

The boy's younger brother and father escaped with injuries.

A seven-year-old boy died after he was hit by heavy debris from a decorative concrete slab that fell off a three-storey building in Melaka, Malaysia on Oct. 22.

The incident took place at Komplex Al-Azim in Bukit Baru, The Star reported.

The boy’s five-year-old brother and their 42-year-old father suffered minor injuries, Melaka police said.

The police identified the boy who died as Ong Lun Keat.

The deceased, his brother and their father had gone to a bank next to the affected building when the incident happened, the police said on Oct. 24.

Standing outside pizza shop

The three were standing outside a Domino’s Pizza outlet when they were hit by the falling debris.

The boy was rushed to the hospital by bystanders and given CPR for 60 minutes, Malay Mail reported.

He was pronounced dead at 10:18pm.

The postmortem report by Melaka Hospital on Oct. 23 revealed that the boy sustained severe trauma and succumbed to multiple injuries after getting crushed.

Malaysia police added that the boy was believed to have been killed on the spot due to the impact.

A Domino’s Pizza outlet manager lodged a police report on the same day after six motorcycles parked outside the building were damaged in the incident.
