His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
The man accused of killing another man under a block in Clementi has been remanded for psychiatric assessment.
Toh Chee Hong, 50, is accused of killing the 41-year-old victim at Block 311B Clementi Avenue 4 on Oct. 21.
He appeared in court via video link on Oct. 30 morning and was ordered to remain in custody for three weeks for a psychiatric assessment, reported Shin Min Daily News.
If convicted of murder, Toh faces the death penalty.
Family engaged lawyers
Toh was represented by a group of lawyers from Invictus Law.
One of the lawyers told the court that they had been recently engaged by Toh's family to defend him, CNA reported.
Remanded
The prosecution requested for Toh to undergo a psychiatric assessment to see if he "suffers from any abnormality of mind".
The defence did not object and the judge approved the prosecution's application.
Toh's next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
Brought back to scene
Toh was brought back to the site of the alleged murder two days ago on Nov. 28.
Accompanied by five plain-clothes police officers, his head hung low as he was brought around the scene.
At specific points throughout the officers' questioning, he nodded in response or pointed out specific areas of the crime scene to the police.
