Car fails to stop at Tampines zebra crossing, hits woman & child on bicycle, checks on them, leaves
Pedestrians were seen helping the woman and child.
A young child and an adult on a bicycle were trying to cross a zebra crossing in Tampines, when they were hit by an oncoming car.
The incident apparently ended with the driver leaving the scene after checking on the pair.
The incident, believed to have occurred at Tampines Avenue 5, was caught on a dashboard camera and uploaded to Facebook.
What video showed
Footage showed the car stopping for a man to cross the road initially.
It then proceeded forward when the bicycle with a rider and pillion were crossing the road in the opposite direction.
Failed to give way at zebra crossing
The car accelerated the instant the man made it to the other side.
The car ended up colliding with the bicycle in the middle of the zebra crossing.
Although the camera angle did not show what happened during the moment of impact, the woman and the pillion, a girl, appeared to have fallen off the bike.
Police not alerted
The collision was witnessed by pedestrians, who stepped forward to check on the fallen cyclist and her pillion.
The driver was seen stepping out of the vehicle to check on the cyclist and pillion.
He spent about a minute with them, before driving off.
The girl and woman were left sitting on the side of the road.
Mothership understands that the police were not alerted.
