Bouquet of flowers left at 38 Oxley Road following Lee Wei Ling's passing
Lee Wei Ling had passed away at home peacefully, according to Lee Hsien Yang.
A bouquet of flowers was left above the mailbox at the entrance to 38 Oxley Road, the family home of founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, on Oct. 9, 2024.
Earlier, Lee Kuan Yew's youngest son, Lee Hsien Yang, had taken to Facebook to announce the passing of his older sister Lee Wei Ling, aged 69, at home.
She had been living at 38 Oxley Road.
He had also called for no flowers and for well-wishers to donate to the following charities, meaning for his elder sister: Canossa Mission Singapore, Parkinson Society Singapore and Total Well-Being SG Limited.
Her older brother, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, also recalled their childhood memories, her love of animals and described her as a "fighter".
He also recalled how Wei Ling stayed on at the family home in Oxley Road with their parents after her two brothers got married and moved out.
"She kept a watchful eye on their wellbeing as they grew older. She supervised our mother’s care after her strokes. She took care of my father too, who was himself growing older and frailer even as he looked after our mother, and especially after she died in 2010."
