The trains with the special livery will operate on 12 lines including the Nagoya Main, Toyokawa, Inuyama and Tokoname lines, SIA said in a Japanese press release on Oct. 4.
The batik patterns, featured on SIA's iconic sarong kebaya uniforms, represents the history and tradition of the airline as well as Singapore's representation as a garden city.
According to Japanese site Aviation Wire, SIA began flying to Nagoya on Oct. 30, 1989.
At the time, they operated three round trips per week with a Boeing 747-200.
In October 1991, they switched to direct flights, and operated four rounds trips per week, and in June 1996, they operated one round trip every day.
Good food
SIA passengers departing from Nagoya from Oct. 1 to 26 will get to have in-flight meals using specialties from the Chubu region.
Economy class passengers can sample Nagoya's kishimen noodles, grilled eel and local beef from the Chita Peninsula.
Business class passengers will have a choice of meals curated by Michelin-starred chef Yoshihiro Murata.
The new dishes include marinated sea bream from Minamichita, a fishing town in Chita district, and Nagoya cochin chicken with matsutake mushroom rice.
