In the wake of the train service disruptions on the East-West Line, SMRT staff on duty at the affected stations received a heartwarming pick-me-up.
These staff members had been working round the clock to help commuters, ever since regular service was disrupted four days ago.
Their efforts did not go unnoticed by the community.
After a long day at work, staff at Jurong East, Clementi, and Bukit Batok MRT stations found themselves smiling while reading handwritten thank you notes from some kindergarteners.
"Thank you for working so hard"
On Sep. 27, Jurong GRC Member of Parliament (MP) Rahayu Mahzam and other Bukit Batok East grassroots leaders visited the stations.
They handed out bread, curry puffs, and bubble tea to the staff who had been "working tirelessly" and "in challenging weather conditions".
Most heartwarming of all were the cards penned by students from Bukit Batok East (BBE) PCF Sparkletots and MyFirstSkool.
Their brightly coloured cards were addressed simply to "workers".
"I hope these letters could cheer you up!" wrote one child.
"Thank you so much for fixing the train tracks," another K2 student said.
Their words, though simple, seemed enough to light up the faces of the workers who were no doubt worn out from a long shift.
"Thank you for working so hard to make life easier for everyone!"
