No EWL trains between Jurong East & Buona Vista on Sep. 27, SMRT aiming for full service on Sep. 30
There will be no partial restoration of train service on Sep. 27.
There will be no train service along the East-West Line (EWL) between Jurong East station and Buona Vista station on Sep. 27, SMRT and Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Sep. 26 news release.
SMRT has decided not to run shuttle train services between those two stations because it would mean slowing down repairs on the parallel damaged rail, as repairs cannot be done when the shuttle train service is in operation.
Running the shuttle train "could risk delaying full restoration" of regular train services "by at least a few days", according to SMRT and LTA.
While SMRT continues to restore train services, free regular and bridging bus services remain available for commuters travelling between the two stations.
SMRT aiming to store full service on Sep. 30
Earlier, on Sep. 26 afternoon, SMRT stated that it was "exploring the possibility of operating a shuttle train service" between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations.
SMRT had "tried [its] best to make this option work by expediting the repairs on one of the tracks" and determined the option was viable.
However, it was decided that "it is better to prioritise repair and expedite restoring full service earlier, rather than run a 20-minute shuttle between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations", said LTA and SMRT.
SMRT aims to restore full service on Sep. 30 (Monday).
