A 67-year-old man was found dead in his flat at Block 2C Upper Boon Keng Road on Friday morning, Sep. 27.

This was after he did not show up for his morning coffee and his absence was noticed by the coffee shop vendor at around 8am.

She then alerted a person who knew the man.

When phone calls made to the man went unanswered, a police report was lodged.

The deceased was found in his bed.

The police arrived at the unit, and the body was subsequently removed at around 4pm.

Missed morning routine

According to Shin Min Daily News, the vendor said the deceased worked at the airport and would have his coffee in the mornings and evenings as part of his routine.

Man fell in bathroom

Two tenants of the unit, Xu, 24, and Yang, 38, said they had been renting the flat with their mothers for more than 10 years and had a good relationship with the deceased, who was their landlord.

The younger tenant said prior to his demise, the landlord fell in the bathroom on Sunday and went to the doctor on Monday.

He was given three days of medical leave and he said he would return to work on Thursday.

She also said he only informed her about his fall on Tuesday.

This was not the first time he had fallen apparently, but this last incident appeared to have been the worst as he had bruising on his head and around his eye.

Rarely mentioned family

Both tenants also noted that in the past 10 years, they rarely heard their late landlord mention his family.

They only knew that he had three sisters and one brother.

One sister and the eldest brother have passed away, leaving only two sisters.

They said they hoped the landlord's two sisters would come to visit and say their final goodbye.

Police said that based on preliminary investigations, they do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.
