A 68-year-old man in Indonesia was found dead after allegedly being attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Peureulak River in Aceh, Indonesia.

Bathing in the river

As reported by Indonesian media Kompas, on the morning of Aug. 29, 68-year-old M Yunus told his wife that he was going to bathe in the river behind their house in Bhom Lama village in East Aceh.

However, Yunus failed to return home, prompting his wife, 64-year-old Dimyam, to search for him.

Upon arriving at the riverbank, Dimyam only managed to find Yunus's clothes and cell phone.

Fearing that he might have drowned, Dimyam told her child who lives in Langsa, another city in Aceh, about the incident.

The child then reported the incident to the village authorities and the police.

Body found in incomplete state

Upon receiving the information, police quickly coordinated with the East Aceh and Langsa City Regional Board for Disaster Management (BPBD) teams to search for Yunus.

The team conducted a search using a rubber boat and combed through the river when they saw Yunus's body floating approximately 500 meters from where he was presumed to have drowned, Ranto Peureulak Police Chief Iptu Andi Ananta Grilya Utama said.

Yunus supposedly died after being attacked by a crocodile while bathing.

His body was found in an "incomplete" state, according to Radio Republik Indonesiaone of Indonesia's two national Public Broadcasting Institutions.

World of Buzz stated that the man's "entire upper body" was missing.

Appealing for a follow up

The incident has caused much fear among residents in the village, who have avoided carrying out their normal activities around the river.

Residents are appealing for relevant agencies to follow up on the incident to protect the residents and avoid such cases from happening again.
