A Hyundai Avante beat the red light at a junction in Loyang on Sep. 29 afternoon and hit another car, causing it to overturn.

Three were sent to hospital as a result.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that the accident involving two cars took place at around 6pm.

SCDF said it happened at the junction of Upper Changi Road North and Tampines Expressway (TPE).

The accident

Dashcam footage of the incident was shared to the "SG Road Vigilante" Facebook group the same night.

It showed a dark coloured Hyundai Avante sedan waiting at a traffic junction when the light was red.

Based on the video, it appeared that the lights turned green at the junction ahead and the Hyundai moved off shortly after.

However, the light it was waiting at was still red.

After the Hyundai moved forward, it hit a blue Toyota Sienta that was passing through the junction from the right.

The impact caused the blue car to go off the road before flipping over.

The Hyundai's front bumper fell off upon impact.

Other vehicles slowed down when approaching the accident site, and two motorcyclists dismounted to offer their assistance.

The Hyundai driver also alighted from the car to assess the situation.

Three sent to hospital

Police told Mothership that a 70-year-old male car driver, his 43-year-old male car passenger and 46-year-old female car passenger, were conveyed conscious to the hospital.

SCDF said the three persons were conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
