Cat adoption drive, DIY coaster workshop & eco-friendly products at Eco Bazaar on Oct. 5
It's free!
Mothership on Earth is back with the second edition of Eco Bazaar.
2023's event saw over 500 attendees show up at Mothership's indoor event space, Matchbox, at Boon Keng.
This year, visitors can look forward to a variety of eco-conscious vendors, workshops and activities.
Here's the rundown of what will be happening.
Activities
Cat adoption drive
If you've been considering a feline addition to your family, consider no more.
Like last year, Cat Welfare Society (CWS) will be hosting a cat adoption drive as well.
Pandoro, Panetonne, Orca and Mia, are just some of the cats there who will be looking for loving homes.
Time: 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:45pm to 4:45pm
DIY coaster workshop
Looking to bring home a personalised gift?
Local homeware brand Chokmah allows you to create your own acrylic coaster and decorate it with preserved flowers.
Price: S$10
Duration: 10 minutes
Time: All day
Chokmah will also be selling a variety of other coasters and pill trays. These are made out of an eco-friendly material called jesmonite, which is a more sustainable alternative to resin, plaster or cement.
Jesmonite can also be recast repeatedly, and Chokmah reuses any jesmonite waste scraps to create new pieces.
Pilates with cats
In conjunction with the Eco Bazaar, and to celebrate its 25th birthday, CWS will also be holding two sessions of "Purrlates", aka pilates with some feline friends.
Due to overwhelming response, both sessions are now sold out.
All sales proceeds will be channeled towards CWS's sterilisation, education, and advocacy programmes.
Booths
Acres
Learn more about local wildlife and Acres' wildlife rescue efforts at their booth.
In the meantime, grab some of their merch.
All proceeds will go towards supporting Acres' rescue operations.
Cat Mama Shop
Cat Mama Shop by CWS will be offering items from totes to calendars with cutesy cat prints.
All proceeds will go to supporting CWS.
MoNo Foods
MoNo Foods is a food sustainability enterprise which aims to redistribute surplus food and prevent it from going into the trash.
At MoNo, you can find food that is close to their expiry date, or past their best-before date, but are still safe to consume.
resavour
Feeling peckish?
Opt for some snacks by resavour — their cookies are made using upcycled ingredients like spent coffee grounds and grains, thus reducing food waste.
The Dog Grocer
Here's something for the pet pawrents.
Touting itself as Singapore's first pet food store with a focus on sustainability, The Dog Grocer sources its meat from ethically raised, grass fed and/or free range animals, where possible.
It also sources its poultry from unsold or "ugly" meats. This includes imperfect cuts of whole breasts, or those with wrong sizing or minor labelling errors.
Meanwhile, it avoids single-use plastic by utilising food packaging that is compostable at home.
Plantitude
Plantitude will be offering a range of handwoven bags and accessories that are made using upcycled plastic waste.
Grab a laptop sleeve for school, or perhaps find a eco-friendly gift for your loved ones here.
The Lily Yard
For the tea aficionados, The Lily Yard has a range of loose leaf tea blends sourced from Taiwan.
Choose between nine blends, from Alishan Osmanthus, to Apple Cinnamon Black.
Studies have previously shown that some tea bags shed high levels of microplastics into water.
As such, The Lily Yard opts for loose leaf teas, which do not require individual packaging, thus generating less waste.
Free entry for everyone
Whether you're looking to bring home a new furry friend, considering upgrading your home and lifestyle with some eco-friendly alternatives, or just simply have some spare time during the weekend, head on down with your friends and family.
Entry to the bazaar is free but registration is required, which you can do so here.
