17kg cat, who 'couldn't even walk', rescued from Russia hospital, on strict diet & exercise regime
The consequences of too much love.
A chonky cat in Russia had to bear the consequences of being shown too much love when he was overfed to the point of being unable to walk.
Kroshik, or Crumbs in English, weighed 17kg when rescued from a Russia hospital basement by Matroskin Shelter.
In comparison, domestic cats weigh approximately 4.5kg.
A diet of crackers and soup
Matroskin Shelter said in an Instagram post on Aug. 30 the tabby cat was fed a diet of crackers and soup by well-meaning hospital staff.
The nutritious meals led to Crumbs putting on more weight than he could carry and he struggled to walk.
The shelter added that Crumbs had so much fat that the vet could not do an ultrasound on him as the sensors simply could not work.
To ensure Crumbs loses that extra weight, a special diet and exercise regime was created for him.
A recent post by the shelter showed Crumbs taking part in hydrotherapy and kinesiotherapy as part of the program, looking more mobile as he slowly moved across the water treadmill.
