Even if you're kitted out like Vin Diesel, leading a convoy of "Fast & Furious"-themed cars, you're still subject to the traffic regulations in Singapore.

A scene featuring a line of vehicles being subjected to checks took place along Selegie Road on May 16, where the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Traffic Police (TP) enforcement officers were seen stopping the motorcade of cars for inspection.

Some of the models seen included Mazda RX-8, Honda Civic, Nissan Silvia and Nissan G-TR

Photos of the incident were shared in a Facebook post by Johnny Wong in two separate posts in the JDM Classics SG group on May 16 and May 17.

Wong indicated that the convoy of cars was driven by movie goers who were heading to the movie premiere of "Fast X", the 10th instalment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

The drivers ended up along Selegie Road by the kerb for LTA and TP officers to check their vehicles.

Wong referred to it as a "friendly pit stop at Selegie by the men in uniform".

A TikTok by Dj51x, which is no longer accessible, showed what happened on the ground.

The video was captioned: "We were supposed to be watching Fast X but ended up living it".

Another TikTok by the same person, which is also no longer accessible, said the group did not get into trouble in the end.

The cars had the the movie title, "Fast X", emblazoned on them.

Vin Diesel lookalike

The pictures also featured a man, who Wong dubbed, as Singapore's "Vin Diesel".

He bears a resemblance to Dominic Toretto, the protagonist of the "Fast & Furious" movies, who is played by actor Vin Diesel.

The doppelgänger was also seen posing in front of a movie poster featuring the actor.

Other pictures from Wong's posts showed the diligence with which the officers carried out their checks.

"No cars, drivers hurt in the 'Fast X' S'pore edition"

In the comments, an admin from the Facebook group shared that the cars all passed their checks, and that they were allowed to proceed to the movie premiere.

One user noted that nothing had been damaged from this brush between the racers and the authorities -- unlike in the movies.

Another said that contrary to the racers' antics in the movies, the police were clearly the dominant force in Singapore.

It referenced the movies' numerous quotes about "family", referring to the strong bonds between the group of street racers.

However, another user disagreed with this.

TP and LTA statement

In response to Mothership's queries, TP and LTA confirmed that on May 16, 2023, at about 5:20pm, officers from TP and LTA who were on patrol, conducted a spot check on vehicles along Prinsep Street for traffic and illegal vehicle modifications.

No traffic offence was disclosed, and one case of non-compliant tinted windows was detected during the check.
