An elderly man, believed to be in his 60s, has been accused of throwing plastic bags of urine into an incense paper burner bin located in an HDB estate.

He allegedly did this as he was unhappy that incense paper was being burned, which resulted in the smoke entering his house and affecting his sleep.

The bizarre incident, which occurred at Block 232 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, was reported by Shin Min Daily News, in a short report, "The incense paper burner bin is not an incinerator".

Witness allegedly saw man put bags into burner bin

Details about what happened are scant, but the story stemmed from an eyewitness, who called the Chinese daily newspaper, to inform them about what he saw.

The eyewitness, a 37-year-old man, claimed he saw the elderly man throw the bags of urine into incense paper burner bin twice.

The witness said the first time he saw that happen was at about 10pm on Sunday, Aug. 8, the first day of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

The younger man said he was running past the area at that time.

Yellowish substance

The contents of the bag was a yellowish substance, it was reported.

Seeing what had been done, the younger man called out to the older man.

Photos published by Shin Min showed there were at least two grocery plastic bags in the burner bin, as well as beside a green rubbish bin.

Response by the accused

When confronted, the elderly man than started ranting about smoke getting into his house, causing him to have problems sleeping, Shin Min reported.

There was no mention as to when the second incident took place, but the eyewitness made a police report, seeing how such an incident has happened more than once, according to the Chinese media.

A Shin Min reporter then found the elderly man and visited him at his home to hear his side of the story.

The elderly man said the smell of smoke and air pollution from the joss paper burning had entered his house.

There was no mention if any follow-up action has been taken.
