The Cabinet of Malaysia's eighth Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has resigned, according to member of parliament and minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Posting on his Instagram Stories, he confirmed the cabinet has submitted their resignation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Malaysia's king).
A member of UMNO (United Malays National Organisation), Khairy served as the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation since Mar. 10, 2020.
According to Malaysiakini, which cited a "well-placed source", the king has accepted their resignations.
Muhyiddin is expected to hold a press conference at 3pm today (Aug. 16).
The 74-year-old premier is also expected to announce is resignation formally.
Referring to the cabinet's resignation, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Wan Ahmad Fayhsal thanked Muhyiddin's "service and leadership" to the country.
