MOH apologises for delays & lapses in quarantine process after public feedback

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has apologised for the delays and unclear communication in its quarantine operations.

Received a lot of feedback

In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Aug. 3), MOH said that it has received "a lot of feedback" pertaining to lapses in its ground coordination and communications.

It added:

"We are doing the best we can to ramp up resources. Our sincere apologies to affected individuals and their families for the delays and lapses."

Has cleared most of the backlog

MOH said that with the outbreak of the KTV, Jurong Fishery Port and other smaller clusters, the number of individuals under quarantine has "increased many fold".

This surge led to slower conveyance to government quarantine facilities for some persons under quarantine, explained MOH.

The ministry added that it has cleared most of the backlog over the weekend, and that the situation "should settle down".

"Our operations staff have been working very hard to handle the increased load."

As of Tuesday (Aug. 3), there are about 20,000 people under quarantine, according to CNA.

Can serve quarantine at home

MOH also said that with more of Singapore's population being fully vaccinated, more individuals are able to serve quarantine at home if their homes are suitable.

This will reduce the need for conveyancing, the ministry said.

According to The Straits Times, there are about 10,000 people quarantined at home as of Aug. 1.
