S'porean teen forges NRIC to enter club & bar, gets caught every single time

He pleaded guilty on July 27.

On Tuesday (July 27), a Singaporean teenager pleaded guilty to forging his NRIC, using a forged IC, and possessing a utility knife in public.

Another four charges will be considered in his sentencing next month, CNA reported.

The teen, who is now 17 years old, cannot be named as he is a minor.

He was 15 to 16 years old at the time of the offences, according to charge sheets seen by Mothership.

Forged NRIC to enter a bar

Charge sheets showed that sometime in 2019, the teen altered his birth year on his NRIC from 2003 to 2000 in order to appear to be above 18.

At about 1:20am on Jan. 1, 2020, he used his forged NRIC to gain entry into Sticky Fingers Bar located at Keng Cheow Street.

However, a security guard caught him, and the teen subsequently admitted to forging his NRIC, according to CNA.

Forged NRIC to go clubbing

Charge sheets also showed that on Feb. 13, 2020, the teen altered a copy of his NRIC, changing his date of birth from 2003 to 1999 to appear above 18.

CNA reported that he had used a phone application to edit photos of his NRIC before printing it out and laminating it.

At about 3:30am on Feb. 14, 2020, he then tried to enter One Min Club with the forged NRIC copy.

However, he was detained by the bouncer who subsequently called the police, according to CNA.

Caught with fake IC & knife near Tampines MRT

In a separate incident, the teen was found to have a foldable utility knife and a forged IC in his possession near Tampines MRT on Feb. 8, 2020.

He was caught when a public transport security command officers performed a routine check on him.

The teen claimed that he had the knife out to use it as a bottle opener.

Stole cigarettes in 2018

Charge sheets also revealed that the teen had committed theft in November 2018.

Along with two others, they stole 16 packets of cigarettes from a 7-Eleven store in Tampines.

The cigarettes added up to S$191.10 in total.
