A 20-year-old Singaporean man, who impregnated three girls aged 12, 15 and 18 over a period of three years, was convicted on July 13, 2021 of having underaged sex among other offences.
Two of the girls were underaged when they conceived.
The youngest girl aborted the baby, while the two older girls kept theirs.
The accused was also convicted of slapping the cheek and kicking the lower back of the eldest girl.
The accused cannot be named as he was under 18 at the time of some of the offences.
He will return to court on July 21 for his sentencing.
He turns 21 next week.
4 counts of sexually penetrating a minor
In total, the man admitted to four counts of sexually penetrating a minor under the age of 16.
He also admitted to one count of voluntarily causing hurt to the eldest girl.
Another 17 charges will be taken into consideration for his sentencing, which are mostly for sexually penetrating a minor under the age of 16.
Probation and reformative training centre reports were called to determine his sentencing options.
How he met 15-year-old
In January 2017, when he was 17 years old, the accused became acquainted with the 15-year-old girl through mutual friends.
The two of them started dating.
Sometime that month they had unprotected sex at a staircase landing.
The girl was a virgin before that.
Over the next several months, they had sex two or three times a month until they broke up in August that year.
The girl found out she was pregnant with the man’s child in early 2018.
The National University Hospital made a police report in March 2018 about the girl's underage pregnancy.
How he met 12-year-old
In January 2018, the man, 19, met the 12-year-old girl via Instagram.
She had contacted him and they later communicated via WhatsApp.
The accused arranged to meet the girl alone at his home that same month despite learning her age.
They had sex in his bedroom and they began dating.
The man was investigated over the sexual encounter, but he still continued to meet the girl to have unprotected sex, including at a HDB staircase a month after getting acquainted.
On April 30, 2019, the girl learnt that she was 10 weeks pregnant and aborted the baby in May.
The man enlisted for national service on the day of the abortion.
A paternity test found that the man was 99.999 per cent likely to be the child's father.
However, the two still met on weekends when he came out of camp and he even stayed at her home, a rental flat, which was also occupied by the girl's mother.
In June 2019, the man had unprotected sex again with the underaged girl as he believed she would not become pregnant after just having an abortion.
What happened with 18-year-old
In August 2019, the man got together with the eldest girl.
She and the man broke up in September 2020 when she was 18.
In January 2020, he slapped her cheek and kicked her lower back when they argued as he did not want the girl to leave his house.
The girl discovered she was pregnant in March 2020 and gave birth in July.
