One of the drawbacks of the pandemic is the lack of pasar malams (night markets) that are often rotated among the heartlands.
But good news for those in the north — one pasar malam takoyaki stall has now found a permanent space near Canberra MRT station.
Formerly known as J's Takoyaki, the takeaway kiosk opened on January 25, 2021 under a new name, Jayz Snacks.
Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki
Takoyaki, or Japanese octopus balls, is one of Jayz Snacks' signature items.
They come in four flavours - Octopus, prawn, chicken ham and cheese, and chilli tuna.
The chilli tuna flavour is priced at S$4 for four, while the other flavours cost S$3.50 for four.
Customers can also add nacho cheese for that extra oomph.
On the other hand, the Okonomiyaki (savoury Japanese pancake) costs S$4 per piece, and is available in four varieties — salmon, chicken ham, crab stick, and prawn.
Additional flakes and cheese cost another S$1.
Besides Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki, they also sell a range of other popular streets snacks and beverages — the Cheesy Potato looks interesting, in particular.
