An 80-year-old man's dead body was found on a first-floor hallway of an apartment building at Staten Island, New York on July 19.

The words "I touch little girls" were written on his chest with a black marker.

"I touch little girls"

The New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a call of an unconscious man at the apartment just after 9:30am that day, as reported by The New York Post.

When police officers arrived at the scene, the deceased man was found in the hallway, shirtless and unresponsive.

Aside from the message on his chest, he also had "I take dolls in my room for girls age 1-5" written on his stomach, and the words "I touch" on his right foot.

In addition to the messages, the man had cuts on his forehead and two black eyes.

Death ruled a homicide

According to NBC New Yorkthe man has been identified as Robert Raynor.

Raynor's death has been ruled a homicide after a city medical examiner found that he had died from blunt trauma to his head and torso.

Some of Raynor's neighbors told PIX11 that he kept to himself and had "extreme difficulty" getting around.

Once, a neighbour had seen him crawling on the floor. Another said that he was "very friendly".

One of Raynor's upstairs neighbours, Isaac Williams, told The New York Post that he heard a loud banging in the apartment building in the wee hours of Monday (July 19).

Williams added that the banging sounded like people were wrestling or "someone was throwing somebody around".

The next morning, when he went downstairs, he found Raynor’s body in the hallway.

No history of pedophilia

According to The New York Post, Raynor had been arrested 24 times prior to his death.

However, his record does not suggest any history of pedophilia. In addition, his name does not appear in New York's online registry of known sex offenders.

One of Raynor’s daughters also claimed that the pedophilia allegations were not true.

House nurse arrested hours after his death

On July 23, 2021, NBC New York reported that a house nurse who had lived with Raynor was arrested hours after his death.

She has been identified as 28-year-old Renee Ayarde.

However, the police said that her charges are unrelated to Raynor's homicide.

Ayarde was caught allegedly beating her three-year-old daughter and is not a suspect in Raynor's killing, according to NBC New York.
