NTUC FairPrice will give the 3 per cent Pioneer Generation discount on groceries to family members shopping on behalf of seniors from Monday, Jul. 26 to Aug. 31, 2021.
This is to protect the well-being of "the more senior cohort in the community", FairPrice said on Jul. 23.
This is a reinstatement of its Pioneer Generation proxy initiative, which was first introduced during the Circuit Breaker in 2020.
“We note with concern that there are still many seniors aged 70 and above who have not been vaccinated as yet," said Seah Kian Peng, Group CEO of FairPrice Group.
Aside from the discounts, Seah said that the initiative is also meant to encourage family members to check in with their elderly parents.
How to get the discount
The 3 per cent discount is applicable on Mondays and Wednesdays at all FairPrice supermarkets and Unity pharmacy outlets.
Family members of those from the Pioneer Generation just need to present their kin's Pioneer Generation card to enjoy the discount.
It is valid for purchases up to S$200 on the discount day, FairPrice said.
