Joo Chiat has added another hip tenant to its district: Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR).

This is the cafe's third outlet in Singapore, featuring all-day brunch, coffee, and a retail section.

Its other two outlets are in the vicinity of Clarke Quay and Tanjong Pagar, making this its first foray into the east.

The new store features splashes of blue against wood furniture, as well as both indoor and outdoor seats (not that we can sit anywhere at the moment).

A total of 80 seats (45 indoor and 35 outdoor) makes it a decently spacious area.

Menu

Although the menu is largely the same, the Joo Chiat outlet carries an exclusive sourdough pancake dish (S$24) that comes in both sweet and savoury versions.

The former is a combination of chocolate almond ganache, almond praline, vanilla bean ice cream and citrus marmalade.

Its savoury counterpart comes with crisp bacon, a fried egg, maple syrup and seasoned butter.

Another outlet-exclusive is the Boledu #COE 21, which sounds like a Photoshop colour code to us but is actually a very complex cup of coffee from Ethiopia.

Coffee drinkers can expect notes of "tropical and dried fruits, fresh grape flavours and a sweet, warming mulled wine-like quality" from their cup.

Other categories on the menu are lunch, sides, and desserts.

Separately, retail items include food items and coffee paraphernalia, such as Loveramics ceramicware, granola, blends, and a housemade coffee caramel sauce.
