A red car was filmed reversing on the super busy Braddell Road towards Farrer Road on July 6, 2021, as it tried to get around the divider that serves as the fork in the road.

The footage of the stunt is bound to become a legendary video of how not to drive a car in Singapore and has raised serious questions about the driver's qualifications to even be on the road.

Video received mostly angry reactions

The video was shot and put up on Facebook by Dzulkarnean Mosbah.

The 47-second clip was fast-forwarded to show the antics of the red car in its entirety and how it eventually ended.

It was shared more than 6,000 times in less than eight hours, with the majority of Facebook reactions being angry responses.

5 minutes reversing

In response to Mothership.sg's queries, Dzulkarnean said the incident occurred just after 3pm on Tuesday.

He was in his office and wanted to take photos of the sky, but was instead greeted by the ludicrous scene along Braddell Road.

The red car, a Honda Jazz, spent about 5 minutes slowing inching backwards on the busy road in total.

If it had proceeded along that road, it would have ended up along Lornie Highway and the Pan Island Expressway.

Other vehicles braked hard to avoid collision

By first pulling over and then reversing, the car caused a few near collisions as other vehicles were forced to brake hard to avoid rear-ending it.

The vehicles that had to avoid the Honda Jazz included public buses, lorries, motorcycles, vans and cars.

The Honda Jazz eventually managed to pull off its reversing manoeuvre only after a trailer truck pulled up behind it, and flashed its high beam at the driver to indicate it is giving way.

The truck then proceeded to hold up traffic behind it to make space for the Honda Jazz.

In total, the Honda Jazz reversed about 20m before filtering left to get onto the road that leads to Bishan Road and Lornie Road.

Dzulkarnean said: "Respect to the trailer driver that stopped the traffic though."

Wanted video as evidence

Dzulkarnean said he took the video as he wanted evidence on hand just in case the Honda Jazz caused an accident.

According to him, he heard a few vehicles honking at the red car during the time it took it to reverse.

How scene looks like on the ground

For motorists familiar with Braddell Road, it is one of several arterial roads that lead to the central and southwestern parts of Singapore.
