Times have been tough since Covid-19 hit.
And it seems especially so for the owners of Chuan Tong Dessert, a traditional dessert shop at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
According to a submission by one Rhyn to Instagram page @wheretodapao, he stumbled upon the HDB shophouse store looking to buy a "cooling" dessert.
He recounted that there weren't a lot of people walking past the shop that day.
Polite owner
Upon entering the shop, he was greeted by the owner whom he called Uncle.
Uncle asked him what he wanted and he replied that he wanted something cooling, given the recent hot weather.
Uncle then suggested getting the longan with almond jelly.
While Uncle was preparing the dessert for Rhyn, he asked if he wanted to buy some desserts back home for his family.
When Rhyn asked him how business has been, Uncle smiled but looked sad and told him that he was thinking of closing it down, given the current situation.
However, he also told Rhyn that he wouldn't know what to do if the business were to close down as he has been running the dessert shop with his wife for the longest time.
Moved by his story, Rhyn urged people to support the couple, especially since the dessert he had was good and is very affordable.
