5 sent to hospital, 120 evacuated after fire breaks out in North Bridge Road HDB block

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Five individuals were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a HDB unit at North Bridge Road on Saturday night, June 12.

Fire broke out in North Bridge Road HDB unit

The fire apparently broke out in a HDB unit in Block 8, North Bridge Road.

According to a statement from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire involved contents of a unit on the seventh floor.

The SCDF was alerted to the fire at around 10:15pm.

120 people evacuated, five sent to hospital

120 people were evacuated by the police, from the sixth to 10th floor.

Four people were conveyed to Singapore General Hospital and one person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

According to the SCDF, patients who suffer smoke inhalation or serious burn injuries will be conveyed to the specialised Burn Centre at the Singapore General Hospital.

However, if their condition is too unstable, they will be conveyed to the nearest MOH-designated hospital.

The fire was extinguished by the SCDF using a water jet. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
