The Singapore police will be charging a 48-year-old man for allegedly providing false information to a public servant.

Provided false info as he was angry at the worker

In a June 22 news release, the police said that on March 6, 2021, the man made a police report claiming that one of his workers had stolen cash amounting to S$2,800 from his co-worker.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division detected discrepancies in the accounts given by the parties involved.

It was subsequently established that the man had allegedly provided false information to the police, as he was purportedly angry that the worker had resigned abruptly, and wanted police to locate and intimidate the worker.

Investigations also revealed that the man had allegedly instigated one of his workers to provide false statement to the police to support his claims of stolen cash.

Will be charged in court on June 23

The man will be charged in court on June 23, 2021 for providing false information to a public servant under Section 182 of the Penal Code and for abetment to providing false information to a public servant under Section 182, read with Section 109, of the Penal Code.

If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to two years, fined, or both.
