Homemaker residing in Bukit Merah View among the unlinked Covid-19 cases in S'pore, Bukit Merah cluster grows to 65

9 cases linked to the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 16 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore on Friday (June 18).

This brings the total number of cases to 62,382.

There are 16 cases today, including 14 cases in the community, of whom 10 are linked to previous cases and four are currently unlinked.

Four unlinked cases

Case 64308

  • 69-year-old male China national who is a retiree
  • Resident at NTUC Health Senior Group Home at Bukit Merah View
  • Tested for Covid-19 on June 16 as part of the home's surveillance testing for residents
  • Pooled test came back positive for Covid-19 on June 17
  • Individual test result came back positive for Covid-19 on June 17
  • Serology test result is pending
  • Received first Covid-19 vaccine dose on May 11, second dose on June 1

Case 64310

  • 67-year-old male Singaporean who is a retiree
  • Developed a fever and runny nose on June 17 and sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner (GP) clinic on the same day
  • Administered both an antigen rapid test (ART) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test
  • Immediately isolated when his ART result came back positive
  • PCR test result came back positive for Covid-19 on June 17
  • Serology test result is pending
  • Received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Mar. 18, second dose on Apr. 8

Case 64311

  • 51-year-old female Singaporean who is a homemaker
  • Asymptomatic, detected when she visited a GP clinic for an unrelated medical condition on June 15
  • Tested for Covid-19 as she stays in the Bukit Merah View area
  • Test result came back positive for Covid-19 on June 17
  • Serology test result is negative for N antigen, which suggests the presence of early infection
  • Received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Apr. 18, second dose on May 9

Case 64318

  • 83-year-old female Singaporean who is a retiree
  • Felt fatigued on June 15 and developed shortness of breath on June 17
  • Sought medical treatment at a Singapore General Hospital on June 17
  • Tested for Covid-19 on June 17
  • Test result came back positive for Covid-19 on June 18
  • Serology test result is pending

10 linked cases

There are 10 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection that are linked t0 previous cases or clusters.

  • Nine are linked to the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster. Of these, four were already quarantined. The cluster now has 65 confirmed cases.
  • One case is linked to Case 64183 (68-yer-old male Singaporean who works as a landscape gardener at Amozonia Pte Ltd) and already quarantined.

Two imported cases

Both the imported cases are Singaporeans who returned from Indonesia.

They have already been placed on SHN upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN.

27 cases discharged

27 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 61,987 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 152 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

209 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

34 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.

There are now a total of 39 Covid-19 clusters in Singapore.
