The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 16 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Wednesday, June 30.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore thus far to 62,579.
No unlinked cases
There are five new cases of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infection, all of whom are linked to previous cases and have already been placed on quarantine.
There are 11 imported cases.
Six were detected upon arrival while the other five developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
All had already been placed on a Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.
Decrease in new community cases & unlinked cases
The number of new cases in the community has decreased by 30, from 98 cases in the week before to 68 cases in the past week.
Similarly, the number of unlinked cases in the community has decreased by 10, from 19 cases in the week before to 9 cases in the past week.
The seven-day moving average number of both linked and unlinked community cases have dropped — they are now at 8.4 and 1.3 respectively.
33 active clusters
There are currently 33 active clusters. The biggest cluster (Bukit Merah View Market) is 91 cases strong.
The five new cases of locally-transmitted cases are linked to the following clusters:
- Three new cases in the Changi General Hospital cluster, bringing the total to 16 cases
- One new case in the Case 64478 cluster, bringing the total to three cases
- One new case in the 105 Henderson Crescent cluster, bringing the total to 15 cases
Progress of vaccination programme
As of June 29, MOH has administered a total of 5,419,555 doses of Covid- 19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme to 3,316,337 individuals.
2,103,218 individuals have received their second dose and completed the full vaccination regimen.
According to the ministry, there is "continuing evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected".
Data collected by MOH show that those who were fully vaccinated had the highest proportion of Covid-19 cases who were asymptomatic or presented with mild symptoms.
Change in format of Covid-19 updates
As Singapore moves to a new phase of combating the pandemic, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce is changing the format of daily Covid-19 press releases. Details of new cases and locations visited by infectious Covid-19 patients will no longer be included.
Besides the daily number of new cases, the report will include information on the key trends of the Covid-19 situation in Singapore, the clusters that are under monitoring, progress of vaccination and the number of people who suffered severe form of the disease.
According to the health ministry, the new format will have a "strong focus on preventing the virus from spreading, vaccinating our population, and commencing the transition to a new normal".
