Cyclist, 14, dies in accident with truck at Marina East Drive, driver, 37, arrested

The teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 14-year-old boy died in an accident with a trailer truck along Marina East Drive on Monday, May 31.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that on May 31 at 4:25pm, the police were alerted to a fatal accident along Marina East Drive between a trailer and a bicycle.

The 14-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

The 37-year-old male driver was subsequently arrested for careless driving causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Mangled bicycle

A series of photos shared by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook showed the scene of the accident.

A mangled black bicycle can be seen lying behind the rear wheels of the trailer.

The bicycle's rear wheel was detached from its frame.

Another photo showed what appeared to be a white sheet on the road placed near the rear wheels of the truck.

The area is known to be secluded with heavy vehicles plying the roads there.

Speaking to Mothership, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a road traffic accident along Marina East Drive.

According to SCDF, a person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
