Those who visit Albert Centre Market and Food Centre in Bugis might be familiar with the hawker stall, Fatt Kee Shou Shi, which is known for its fried bee hoon.
Unfortunately, the stall took to Facebook to share that its founder, 93-year-old Lai Kum Chee, had passed away peacefully on May 4.
In the post, Fatt Kee added that "she is blessed and thankful with all the heart-warming support from the regulars throughout her years at Fatt Kee. She is now an angel smiling happily watching over us from the top!"
Stall temporarily closed
On May 3, Fatt Kee had announced that it would be closed temporarily and until further notice, due to "personal reasons".
In a separate post the next day, they shared details of Lai's wake, which will be held from May 4 to 8. Well-wishers can pay their respects, but they are urged to follow all Safe Management Measures and other Covid-19 restrictions.
According to 8 Days, Lai is survived by her sons who have been helping out to run the 61-year-old stall.
The stall serves dishes such as chee cheong fun, steamed yam cake and bee hoon.
