GovTech staff among 3 unlinked Covid-19 cases in S'pore

A total of 14 community cases.

Three unlinked Covid-19 cases were reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on May 27.

In total, there were 24 new cases reported today. There are 14 community cases, one dormitory case, and nine imported cases.

This brings the total number of cases to 61,940.

Three unlinked cases

There are three unlinked cases among today's numbers.

Among these unlinked cases, two are in the community:

Case 63749

  • 43-year-old female Singaporean who works at GovTech
  • Last at work on May 7
  • Developed a fever, runny nose and body aches on May 24
  • Sought medical treatment at a general practitioner (GP) on May 25, where she underwent both an antigen rapid test (ART) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test
  • Immediately isolated when ART result came back positive for Covid-19 on May 25
  • PCR test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 26
  • Serology test result is negative

Case 63757

  • 67-year-old male Singaporean who is a retiree
  • Developed a cough and runny nose on May 25
  • Sought medical treatment on May 25
  • Underwent ART and PCR test on May 26
  • Immediately isolated when ART result came back positive for Covid-19 on May 26
  • PCR test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 26
  • Serology test result is negative

And one unlinked case resides in the dormitory:

Case 63750

  • 42-year-old male Bangladesh national who is employed by Teng Feng Engineering Pte Ltd and works at Harvest @ Woodlands (280 Woodlands Industrial Park E5)
  • Resides at Woodlands Lodge 2 (190 Woodlands Industrial Park E7)
  • Reported that he had not interacted with five other cases who reside at Harvest @ Woodlands
  • Asymptomatic
  • Detected as part of Rostered Routine Testing
  • Pooled test result came back positive for Covid-19 on May 24 and immediately isolated
  • Individual test done on May 25 came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 26
  • Serology test result is negative for the N antigen, suggesting the presence of early infection
  • Received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on May 14

12 linked community cases

There are 12 new community cases linked to previously reported Covid-19 clusters.

Of these cases:

  • One is linked to the  Changi Prison Complex cluster
  • Three are linked to the Hong Ye Group cleaners cluster
  • Three are linked to the Pacific Law Corporation cluster
  • One is linked to the Tektronix cluster
  • One is linked to the 63446 cluster
  • One is linked to the 63708 cluster

Two more cases are linked to previously confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The remaining cases announced today include nine imported cases from India and Indonesia.

There are now 35 active Covid-19 clusters in Singapore, with the biggest being the Changi Airport Terminal 3 cluster with 108 cases.

12 cases discharged

12 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 61,372 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 245 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

291 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

32 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
