If you think you're 'suffering' because of Phase 2, you're a crybaby: Ex-NMP Calvin Cheng

According to Cheng, many Singaporeans have a "warped perspective of real life".

Singapore is now in Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) and the new restrictions, including being unable to dine out and being forced to work from home, might be a little difficult for some to swallow.

Some people might even say that they're suffering.

Well, former Nominated Member of Parliament Calvin Cheng has a message for these people.

Cheng wrote on Facebook on May 16, expressing how he was "feeling angry" over such sentiments that he saw surfacing on WhatsApp and other social media.

He wrote:

"WHAT SUFFERING??

So for two weeks, maybe a month we can’t dine in.

Can’t hang out in more than groups of two.

THAT IS FUGGING SUFFERING??

FUGUE!"

Referencing the oft-used comparison of Singapore to a sanitised "Disneyland", Cheng wrote that Singaporeans have a "warped perspective of real life".

In his post, he highlighted "suffering" in other countries, such as in India, where people are dying on the streets, with corpses turning up in the rivers.

Or in Europe and the United Kingdom that have been repeatedly put under total lockdowns.

Cheng wrote that "people suck it up and get on with life" there.

He added:

"Bloody restaurants closing but you go rush for toilet paper??

DAFUQ is wrong with you man?

The B1617 virus has/will go global no matter what any country does, unless you shut your borders completely. And only maybe at the most THREE lucky countries can do this.

We cannot."

"WE ARE NOT SUFFERING," was Cheng's emphatic response.

"Go to the parks, go to the cinema, take a FUGGING DABAO go home watch TV in your FUGGING First World Apartment and STOP FUGGING SAYING YOU ARE SUFFERING," he wrote, before calling Singapore the "BIGGEST NATION OF CRYBABIES IN THE WORLD".
