61-year-old massage parlour owner to be charged for failing to ensure staff doesn't provide sexual services

A 61-year-old man will be charged in court on May 5 for failing to ensure that an employee in his massage establishment does not provide sexual services.

According to a press release by the police, they had conducted enforcement operations at a massage parlour along Jalan Kayu, on August 12, 2020, around 1.35pm.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division subsequently established, through follow-up investigations, that the man had purportedly failed to ensure that his employee did not provide such services.

As such, the man will be charged under the Massage Establishments Rules 2018.

Should he be found guilty, he faces a fine of up to S$5,000.

Repeat offenders face a fine of up to S$10,000, a jail term of up to two years or both.

The press release added, "The Police take a serious view against any person who may be involved in such illicit business operations and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law."
