Man, 33, arrested after allegedly attacking a woman with a knife at Bukit Batok coffeeshop

They were believed to be known to each other.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested by the police for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

According to the police release, the police were alerted on Apr. 27 at around 4:25pm.

They were informed that the man had allegedly attacked a 35-year-old woman with a knife at Blk 155 Bukit Batok Street 11.

The address belongs to a coffeeshop in the area.

The woman suffered injuries on her hand and neck area. She was conscious when conveyed to the hospital.

Arrested on the same day

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division and Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day within four hours after they were alerted to the case.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man and the victim are believed to be known to each other.

The two of them supposedly had a dispute prior to the incident.

The man will be charged in court on April 29 under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
