On the morning of July 4, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong was seen in Marine Terrace together with People's Action Party (PAP) candidate for Marine Parade GRC, Tan See Leng.

Hope that his "good work" will continue to be done

Addressing the media on his visit to Marine Parade and what he thinks about the contest there, Goh said that he has found "a very good successor" in Tan See Leng.

Last month in June, Goh had announced his retirement, saying that he will not run for Marine Parade.

The PAP team for Marine Parade, which is led by Tan Chuan-Jin, comprises Tan See Leng, Edwin Tong, Seah Kian Peng and newcomer Fahmi Aliman.

Goh told media said that he is not a contestant now, so he does not wish to get involved in the day-to-day campaigning. He also said that he will just "observe".

However, he is spending time in Marine Parade to make sure his good work "will be continued":

"I want to be sure that my good work over here will be continued. So, Tan See Leng will make sure that what I have done over here will continue to be done".

Straits Times reported that Goh had breakfast with Tan, and said he would observe Tan, and give some tips on how his campaigning style could be improved.
