The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 513 cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore, as of July 24.

This brings the total number of cases up to 49,888.

A new cluster of cases was identified.

Three of the newly confirmed cases are linked to one previous case to form a new cluster at a dormitory at 12 Defu Lane 7.

New places visited by Covid-19 cases

Two new locations have been added to the list of places visited within the past 14 days by Covid-19 cases when they were infectious.

These locations are as follows:

  • July 12, 12.50pm to 6.20pm Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park (16 Ah Hood Road)
  • July 14, 12.45pm to 4.45pm Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park (16 Ah Hood Road)

  • July 20, 17.20pm to 8.05pm Ramada Singapore at Zhongshan Park (16 Ah Hood Road)

Those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.

As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.

They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

There is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been.

The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection, MOH said.

Case details

The vast majority are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

Of the 2 cases in the community, one was picked up as a result of proactive surveillance and screening, and one had already been placed on quarantine earlier.

Both are asymptomatic, and were detected through proactive testing.

One of the community cases today is linked to a previous case. Case 49715 had been identified as a contact of a previously confirmed case, and had been placed on quarantine earlier. He was tested during quarantine to determine his status.

The other community case is currently unlinked. Case 49478 was detected from proactive screening of workers in essential services who are living outside the dormitories, even though he is asymptomatic.

Epidemiological investigations of the unlinked case are in progress.

In the meantime, all the identified close contacts have been isolated and placed on quarantine.

Six imported cases

There are also six new imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arriving in Singapore.

Two (Cases 49477 and 49479) are Permanent Residents who returned to Singapore from India on 12 July, and from the UK on

10 July.

The remaining cases are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from India between 11 July and 13 July.
