Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong made a national address on June 23, 2020 -- but it was not Covid-19 related.

This was mainly to announce the advising of President Halimah Yaacob to dissolve parliament, heralding the impending General Election in the coming weeks.

Polling Day will take place on July 10.

Range of requests

During PM Lee's live address though, which drew around 88,000 viewers at one time on his Facebook page, it seems many Singaporeans had other much more pertinent issues on their minds, aside from the election.

Here's a compilation of the issues, which range from sensible to wishful thinking.

To open Singapore's borders to Malaysia for a variety of reasons—food, family and cheap petrol.

To reopen Thai discos:

To reopen clubs and karaoke bars:

To postpone IPPT and reservist:

It seems Singaporeans are in desperate need of a break, with several asking when hotels will reopen for staycations.

Others proposed four-day work weeks.

Some Singaporeans had even more baffling requests and confessions.

In typical fashion, the latest memes made it way into the conversation.

As well PM Lee's magical teacup.

One last request.

Wow.
