Dining out is allowed in Phase 2 of the post-Circuit Breaker period, which will kick in after June 18, 2359h.

Many eateries and Food and Beverage (F&B) establishments are preparing to welcome diners back with safe management practices put in place.

Some Kopitiam and Food Junction food courts, as well as selected staff canteens for frontline transport workers, will have table-top separators installed to facilitate safe distancing between different groups of diners.

Transparent table-top separators trialled in food courts and staff canteens

This pilot project is a partnership between Temasek Foundation, CapitaLand and the National Transport Workers Union (NTWU).

As diners are allowed to remove their masks when they are eating, the separators will help to reduce potential exchange of speech droplets during meal time.

Each table-top separator will also be treated with a self-disinfecting antimicrobial coating that lasts for three months.

Various food courts to have separators installed

The selected food courts where transparent table-top separators will be installed are located at IMM, Junction 8, Lot One Shoppers’ Mall, Plaza Singapura, and Tampines Mall.

The separators will also be installed in NTWU canteens in public transport operators’ depots in Bulim, Loyang, Seletar, and Woodlands.

Over 500 dining tables in participating outlets will have the separators installed, funded by Temasek Foundation, starting from June 18 at four staff canteens.

The food courts will have the separators installed at participating food courts from next week onwards. The separators will be installed based on different configurations during this pilot run to assess which is the best for respective settings.

Diners' feedback is welcomed during this period. Temasek Foundation is also in the midst of working with local coffee chain, Ya Kun, to explore how such separators can be installed in small cafes.
